From codependency to connection, how to heal from your difficult relationship with your mum.
Daughters of the Roses Guided Therapy Group
Is your mum controlling, critical and/or competitive?
Do you feel you are codependent, where your happiness depends on hers?
That you have to censor yourself to not annoy her?
That she condemns and blames you for anything and everything?
Are there mental health issues/addiction issues or other conditions present in the situation that make things more difficult?
Are there problems with connection in your family and relationships?
Are there trauma cycles in your family that need breaking?
If any of these are true for you, you have a difficult mother.
But, what’s next?
You know you need help with your difficult relationship with your mum but where do you turn? What do you need to do to actually feel better?
You want proven specialist help and advice, not just from someone who has been there, but also from a qualified mental health professional who can help with the anxiety, depression, guilt and stress you often feel, whether you still see mum, have no contact, are fostered/adopted, or she has passed.
Learning about what’s been happening in your struggle with your mum, is just as important as feeling empowered to create change in your life and relationships. The support and group sessions I provide mean there is no more thinking:
- Where should I go for help?
- I can’t afford it?
- Am I the only one who has problems with my mum?
Instead think about how life could be if your relationship with your mum could improve or you felt ok to walk away, if you believed in yourself again, if you felt good enough to go for the job/relationship/goals that mean so much to you.
Did you know that to break the cycle women often need support and guidance but don’t ask for help because of the stigma they feel about being a daughter of a difficult mother?
Hi, I’m Charlotte Pardy MA
I run The Meditative Counsellor, a successful psychotherapy business specialising in helping daughters of difficult mothers heal from their trauma, so they can lead happy, fulfilling lives, by overcoming the pain, stigma and emptiness they often feel.
I’ve been a therapist since 2008, and finished my Masters Degree in 2012, since then I’ve helped hundreds of women with difficult mother/daughter relationships learn to love themselves and find emotional freedom. I have been featured in the media and have even Received an award as Specialist Relationship Counsellor of the year 2021.
As a daughter of a difficult mother myself, I know how hard it is to find specialist help and support, and to navigate the minefield that is our mental health system, which is why I created Daughters of the Roses, to take you from feeling lost and alone, to empowered and thriving.
This group is for you if you want to…
- Begin your healing journey, but are unsure how to get started
- Know what really matters to help you thrive
- Get out of the anxiety, guilt and stress that comes with living in survival mode

- Feel empowered to move forward in your healing journey

‘I have been working with Charlotte for a while now and since having access to this group and the workbooks within it, I have been able to understand so much more about myself and my relationship with my mother. It has helped me to release blame and let go of any guilt I had over how our relationship stands. Charlotte has the best ways to allow you to see things from a more open perspective giving you time to digest and understand the reasons why things may be. Since being in this group I have been able to take a different approach with my mother, and minimise the conflict between us, although I know we both still have alot of healing to do. I understand that my healing is my responsibility now and that I have to put myself first. Charlottes work is highly recommended with her wit, sense of self, friendly yet professional manner and her warmth.‘

The great thing about Charlotte is, she is really approachable. She is far from formal and clinical. It’s like talking to your friend beside the fire. She’s such a gentle and nurturing spirit, and knows her stuff. She has really helped me get through some tough times. I recommend her. Katie
Thank you SO much. It is so helpful to actually understand these concepts. I really appreciate the time and expertise you give me. Sally
I recently had a confrontation with a friend. They were acting up and I reluctantly pulled them up on it. They blew up and walked away. My usual reaction is to blame myself and pander to them. I also have a tendency to worry about it and blame myself for a while after, sometimes disturbing my sleep. Straight after the confrontation had happened, I remembered something Charlotte had taught me. The useful ‘Charlotte’ voice pointed out that the feeling terrible and wanting to appease comes from a time when I wanted to appease my mother while at the same time, blame myself for her actions. Immediately on reminding myself of this, the bad feeling went away. It had completely taken the power out of it. I didn’t worry unnecessarily about my friend and it fixed itself without all the heartache. These things actually work! Thank you, Charlotte. You are amazing. Angela
So what’s stopping you?
Here are the questions I get asked most about Daughters of the Roses, if there’s anything I haven’t covered, do get in touch and ask!
1. What exactly does the Daughters of the Roses group cover?

You get to dive straight in and start working at your own pace with monthly live group calls and our next call is on the last Monday of the month.
2. What exactly does the online library cover?
The library is a wealth of resources you can tap into to help you on your healing journey. There are workshops, talks, meditations and more covering topics like anxiety, depression, self-care and the struggles daughters of difficult mothers face.

3. What’s the community group about?
My Daughters of the Roses Facebook group is designed to help you go deeper into the healing process and provide the support and empowerment you need to change your habits and beliefs to create your calmer and confident life.
You’ll find support in buckets within the group, our Roses are a friendly bunch (excuse the pun)!
You’ll get daily inspiration and a weekly live where you can check in and ask questions about your healing process.
This is where the monthly talks links will be posted, so you can hop on and work with me live, and if you can’t make it, no worries, the talks will be uploaded to the online library for you to watch at your leisure.
The group has a monthly theme to help guide you through the healing process, and our monthly therapy calls will help you expand on that theme, and give you a chance to ask questions.
And so much more including journalling prompts and mantras.
4. Why combine the two elements?
This can be your year to break the cycle and heal yourself and I’m here to help and support as many women as possible to make this transformation.
The best way I know to make fast, lasting and deep mindset change is to use the three keys of education, empowerment and support.
You get the practical educational resources in my online healing library to empower you with the knowledge to work with your mother wound.
You get to join an amazing support community of women, with my mentoring and monthly group calls plus the empowerment of other women on the same journey. Plus there’s £1,000+ of bonus training, a discount with the code SummerRose and a monthly subscription offer!

These elements work perfectly together and will feed into one another – it’s going to be epic.
5. What’s the deal with the twice monthly group therapy calls?
As you may know, I’ll be doing live twice monthly group therapy calls in our Daughters of the Roses community to give you support, encouragement and inspiration on our monthly theme. This is the only way to connect with me live, and every month I’ll be answering your questions and teaching the main principles of the next part of your healing journey.
They will be held on the last Monday of the month so you need to tune in live.
It’s super important that you understand why this is such a special opportunity!
Daughters of the Roses is the absolute best way to do this work and work with ME as it combines the online resources with live group calls and immersion.

That’s how confident I am in the quality of this membership! I want you to feel so freaking good about making this investment in yourself and your future.
9. What if I feel scared, guilty, anxious, or disloyal for outing my mum as a difficult mother by joining Daughters of the Roses?
I promise you that we don’t encourage blaming and shaming in the group, it’s all about understanding and healing, whether you choose to continue your relationship with your mum or go no contact.
Many of our members love their mothers but struggle with their behaviour, emotions, and criticism, and sharing the problems helps them immensely. We have a what is said in the group, stays in the group policy.
Joining Daughters of the Roses is the best and most cost-effective way of addressing these issues.
10. Is my resistance to joining a form a self-sabotage?
It could be! It’s common for daughters of difficult mothers to experience the cycle of abuse, where we get used to mum being difficult but then we experience short periods where she is nice. These periods of niceness often happen when we feel ready to leave or call out her behaviour, and make us question our decision.
You may also be so used to living with anxiety and a level of stress, that it can be hard to think about what life may be like without mum’s criticism to battle against.
The truth is though, only you can decide if you are self-sabotaging, because you are the only one who knows your own heart.
More client love for my work
Thank you so much! You came to me when I was ready for a guide and I am so grateful. Penny
I tried guided meditation with Charlotte, something I never thought I’d try. It was an incredibly calming and soothing experience and I’m very grateful. Very much recommend. Emma
I have Skype counselling sessions with Charlotte. Very helpful and knowledgeable in different therapies, I have PTSD, so the conventional previous therapies with others have not worked . She has a very compassionate listening ear. I now use a couple of the tools she has given me, my anxiety has greatly reduced and I am doing things that I could not even think about doing a couple of years ago. Sarah
